WeedGadget is a project that ran for more than ten years, built around one thing only: artist-blown glass.
In the United States glass blowers work borosilicate the way you work a sculpture — one-off signed pieces, with collectors and waiting lists. That glass wasn't reaching Europe. I was the first to bring it to Barcelona: direct relationships with the American artists, importing, and a space where those pieces could finally be seen in person instead of in photographs.
Everything else grew around the glass, and that is the part I signed: the brand and its signage, the online shop, the photography of the pieces, the graphics, a clothing line, the display stands, the trade-fair material. Ten years of catalogue and of relationships with the people who blow that glass.
Today the project lives on Instagram, and that is where the archive is: bangers, water pipes, marbles, pendants, collector pieces. More than eight thousand people follow it. The current collaboration is with Chancho, and Chancho Gadget comes out of it.
